Hudson Valley Handbells, a site for English Handbell ringers, directors and listeners in the Hudson Valley Region of New York State

OUR MISSION STATEMENT: The primary mission of the Hudson Valley Handbell. Festival Conference (HVHFC) is to promote the art of handbell ringing by providing an opportunity for local and/or visiting handbell choirs to perform in a massed, divisional, and solo choir framework, and present a concert to the general public. To further the art of handbell ringing, HVHFC may, at the discretion of the governing body, also provide financial assistance to handbell choirs or members of the Handbell Musicians of America who are in serious documented need.

A final report:

We collected $1716.26 from the ringers collection and $2938.83 from the audience collection.  We had received $1,287.00 before the concert for a total cash collection of $5,932.09. PLUS a 2 octave set of bells and cases for 3 octaves.

Below are is the original information we posted here about the devastation in Gulfport.

Tammy Turnage, their music director, sent these pictures to us so we could see the great damage done by Katrina.  The congregation has lost its church building, but

presently meet in a school gym.  Also, many people who lost their homes were told that they were not in a flood area and didn't need flood insurance.  Yet, they are being healed by music.   All 3 octaves of their bells were swept away by the sea.  Although the singing choirs are able to carry on, the ringers have been left empty handed.  We hope to change that.  You cannot
imagine the gratitude from these musicians when they learned they had been chosen by our committee to receive the funds! For more info click here.

If you would like to contribute to this fund now, please send a check payable to First Presbyterian Church of Gulfport  and put Handbell Fund on the memo part of the check.

Mail it to Hudson Valley Handbell Festival/Conference, c/o Sue Young, 128 Liberty St., Newburgh, NY 12550.  Thank you very much.

We look forward to seeing all of you at our concert on April 29 at Nyack College.
